Demon Road (Demon Road #1) by Derek Landy
Publisher: Harper Collins
Goodreads Summary:
Full of Landy’s trademark wit, action and razor sharp dialogue, DEMON ROAD kicks off with a shocking opener and never lets up the pace in an epic road-trip across the supernatural landscape of America. Killer cars, vampires, undead serial killers: they’re all here. And the demons? Well, that’s where Amber comes in...Sixteen years old, smart and spirited, she’s just a normal American teenager until the lies are torn away and the demons reveal themselves.

Forced to go on the run, she hurtles from one threat to another, revealing a tapestry of terror woven into the very fabric of her life. Her only chance rests with her fellow travellers, who are not at all what they appear to be…

Review:
Action-packed, dark and thrilling are the perfect words to describe Demon Road. Before reading it, I'd only read a little bit of Derek Landy, in the form of one of two Skulduggery Pleasant books, which I read a long, long time ago.

Meet Amber Lamont; a short, plain girl often called ugly by others. I really liked Amber from the start, mainly because unlike most heroines, her flaws go beyond her personality and include her looks.

Milo is also a very intriguing character. At first, he is mysterious and powerful, but he soon becomes an important ally, and slowly the mystery of his past is unveiled.

I've read a few books involving Demons, but none anything quite like Demon Road. The 'Shining Demon' is unlike any other Demon character I've met in a book.

I was constantly guessing at the plot, and I was slightly disappointed when I got a lot of it correct, I felt that Amber could be slightly over ignorant. However, I am definitely still going to give Demon Road 4.5 Stars.
