Spoiler Discussion: The Sandrin Boys (Three Dark Crowns)

Note: This post contains spoilers from Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake, read on at your own risk.

The Sandrin boys are three minor characters in Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake. They're described as very desirable men. The eldest, Matthew Sandrin is in love with Jules's Aunt Caragh, and the middle child, Joseph loves Jules. The youngest child is yet to grow up.

Nearer the end of the book, Matthew is seen in Madrigal's tent after Jules hears laughter floating out from inside and realises she isn't alone. To Jules, this is a betrayal as Aunt Caragh was punished for Jules's actions and she has always known Matthew as "Caragh's Matthew".

After Joseph almost drowns, he meets Queen Mirabella, who pulls him from the shipwreck. They spend a night together in the cold, and only in the morning does Joseph realise who she is. He runs back to Jules and later tells her what happened, but he cannot stop thinking of Mirabella.

These stories really affected me and I can't stop thinking about the Sandrin boys. Kendare Blake seems to have a specific image she wants to get across with them, and I'm curious to know what story arcs will involve them in One Dark Throne.

To those of you who have read Three Dark Crowns, what are your thoughts on the Sandrin boys?
