Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter #6)
Publisher: Gollancz
Goodreads Summary:
Angels are falling from the sky in New York, struck down by a vicious, unknown force.

Vampires are dying impossibly of disease.

Guild hunter Elena Deveraux and the Archangel Raphael must discover the source of the wave of death before it engulfs their city and their people, leaving New York a ruin and Raphael's Tower under siege by enemy archangels.

Yet even as they fight desperately to save the city, an even darker force is stirring, its chill eyes trained on New York...and on Raphael. Rivers of crimson and nightmares given flesh, the world will never again be the same...

Review:
New York is falling. Angels have fallen from the sky, and the immune vampires have been plagued with an unknown disease. Only the Archangel Raphael and his consort Elena have a chance at stopping this mystery which threatens to destroy their territory. But war is coming, and unknown forces will question the very existence of this world...

I don't know why I decided to write a full review for this novel when I haven't done anything but a few sentences for the prior books, but I think this one deserved it. The last five books were great, yet Archangel's Legion was even better. The journey and discovery part of this series has wrapped up, and now Nalini Singh reveals some of the ancient history of her paranormal world, so old none alive known even a whisper of it.

Elena's character also develops. She must control her fear, manage her open heart and trust her archangel. Raphael's power changes in unexpected ways as war is waged against him. Elena and Raphael must use every power at their disposal and more in order to have a chance at defeating their enemies. Their bond strengthens and I love them so much!

Naasir's booby traps were the highlight of the book; neatly constructed and ever convenient, I laughed every time they appeared during the war. Archangel's Legion gives us the first glimpse at archangelic wars including laws, fatalities, strategy and weapon use. Lijuan's fight against the Cadre in a previous book was interesting, yet this battle easily trumps it. Nalini Singh has clearly done her research as the detail in Archangel's Legion is incredible.
