Cadence Sinclair Eastman is part of the Sinclair family. Tall, blond and blue eyes, an air of mystery surrounds their perfection. But perfect doesn't last. Cady spent all her summers on their privately owned Beechwood Island until it all went terribly wrong. Left with migraines and no recollection of what happened that summer, Cady struggles through life. But summer approaches fast, and seventeen year old Cady once again returns to Beechwood in hopes that she'll recall what happened two years ago during that fateful summer.

I've heard a lot about We Were Liars, but I didn't know what to expect when I started reading. The synopsis tells you very little about the book, other than it being a suspense. Cady and Gat's romance is a hardship they work through, their connection unnamed. Still, I adore them together. it's a simple relationship of the no questions asked nature. Mirren's character fascinated me the most, this girl who is bossy, easily gets mad and desperately wants a boyfriend.

Told from Cady's point of view, We Were Liars explores a terrible accident. Through her medication, hallucinations get Cady through what may be her last summer on Beechwood. When lies are told all around you, how can you separate the truth? We Were liars is a powerful young adult novel covering a wide range of teenage issues through this eloquent novel.
