The Iron Trial (Magisterium #1) by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare
Publisher: Scholastic Books

Goodreads Summary: Most kids would do anything to pass the Iron Trial.

Not Callum Hunt. He wants to fail.

All his life, Call has been warned by his father to stay away from magic. If he succeeds at the Iron Trial and is admitted into the Magisterium, he is sure it can only mean bad things for him.

So he tries his best to do his worst - and fails at failing.

Now the Magisterium awaits him. It's a place that's both sensational and sinister, with dark ties to his past and a twisty path to his future.

The Iron Trial is just the beginning, for the biggest test is still to come . . .

Review: Magic. What a great book! I love how Holly Black and Cassie Clare decided to defy standard fantasy rules, and surprise readers with a different outcome! Callum Hunt is of the age when he should be trying bard to get into the Magisterium, but he;s not. Warned that it's a dark and terrible place, he tried hard to fail The Iron trial, the entry test. but he can't fail enough, and he gets in. from there, he has to be very careful.. because his choices have consequences, that could be disastrous... i haven't read Harry Potter, but I've heard a lot of it. From that, I don't think The iron Trial is anything like Harry Potter at all.Everything has similarities, but Harry potter and The Iron trial are pretty different. A great read, full of mischief. Fantastic characters. I really enjoyed it for sure. The Iron Trial was an interesting book, and it never got boring- there was always something happening. The Iron trial- Fantasy with action. A great mix. Wow.
