Winning isn't everything...

To other people Dr. Elaine Watson never loses. Period. So she won't miss out on a chance to restore the Bluebird Bed-and-Breakfast. The owner's son, Dean Collins, seems just as determined as she is. A famous photojournalist, he hasn't been home in years, so why does he want to turn the Bluebird, a charming old B and B, into a fishing camp?

With just a few weeks to create the winning plan, Elaine has no choice but to spend time with the guy. She's drawn to the handsome, wounded man, but being with Dean would mean giving up the future she's been dreaming of... And Dr. Elaine Watson never gives up.

Five Things I Know About The Bluebird Bet’s Dr. Elaine Watson

5. She’s ambitious, a hard worker, and needs to take some of her own advice. Whether it’s to finish medical school, establish the best practice in town, or restore the Bluebird Bed-and-Breakfast to its former glory, she won’t fail.

4. She and her many-times-married mother don’t see eye to eye, but Elaine knows who she can count on.

3. Elaine’s not above a little shrewd strategy: get a head start with renovations, snoop a little to get a peek at her rival’s plans, beat him in a race he doesn’t know he’s running. She plays to win.

2. But she’ll never let a patient down, either. Maybe Dean’s not exactly a patient, but he’s a man who’s done a hard job. When he needs her help to recover, she won’t give up until he’s on the mend.

1. Knitting is not the hobby she’s looking for, but the Shady Ladies won’t let her give up. Have you ever tried to pick up a new skill like knitting and failed? Do you keep trying?

Excerpt

Dean stepped back. “That yarn you’re mangling, have the ladies at Purl’s Place seen it?” Elaine fought the urge to pull him closer, to hold on to their connection. She stared at him until she remembered he’d asked her a question. “Not yet. I’m practicing so the next time I go, they’ll be amazed at my progress and assume I’ve got the touch.” She held up the zigzag swatch that was supposed to be a neat rectangle of regular stitches. There were no holes, but she’d somehow knit three knots in. “I have a long way to go, as you can see.” “What would happen if you weren’t the best knitter in town, but you went anyway just for fun?”
Elaine tried to come up with a good answer. There wasn’t one. “If I can’t get the hang of this, I won’t go.
Of course not.” What a crazy suggestion. Why spend time and, in this case, money, doing something she was no good at? If she didn’t get the hang of it this week, she’d toss in the needles.
